Principal Cornet

Better known as Oz, Brian has been playing cornet since the age of 7. Starting in Onchan Silver Band in 1969 under the teaching of Willie Kneale, in 1974 he joined the Manx Youth Orchestra, where he held the principal trumpet position for 6 years. (He also met Carolyn, his future wife who played clarinet). In  1983 joined he Castletown when it was under the musical direction of Major J E (Tommy) Thirtle, who had also been a peripatetic brass teacher with the Manx Youth Orchestra. Keeping up the tradition of playing music are his 2 sons, Chris and Graeme.
