The first joint concert between Castletown and our training band, Balley Cashtal Brass, was held at the Castletown Civic Centre on Tuesday 20th October.

Although Balley Cashtal have previously appeared in Castletown Band concerts, this was the first time that both bands played together.

The concert started with a set by Castletown which included a diverse range of music from Aces High and Dambusters March, to Gaelic Blessing and Hine e Hine, and the solo Carrickfergus played by Arthur Christian on the flugel horn. This was followed by a set by Balley Cashtal playing on their own, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Let's Twist Again, Largo from the New World Symphony, and a horn duet, Aura Lee (Love me tender) played by Charlotte McGroggan and Leah McVicars.

The 2 bands then combined and played an arrangement of the march Slaidburn and an arrangement of Finlandia.

It was great to see a full hall to appreciate the work of Barbara Cole and some of the other members of Castletown Band in training the members of Balley Cashtal, and the hard work and the enthusiasm put in by the members of Balley Cashtal.
