Well, the Weathermen got that wrong! They'd originally said the weather this afternoon would have been fine, meaning that it would be a pleasant day at Laa Columb Killey in Ballabeg. Unfortunately it rained, although it was fairly light rain, it was definately rain.

However, the organisers didn't let that spoil the day and decided to go ahead with the parade from Ballabeg Church Hall to the fair field.

The parade this year was led by the Laa Columb Killey Princess, Emily Sansbury on a horse drawn carriage followed by the band playing Westward Ho and Slaidburn. We had a new drummer controlling us this year. On the march, John Moore our solo horn player picked up the beater, and in the tea tent Ian Astill picked up the sticks.

Following the opening of the fair, which was carried out by Ms Judy Mylchreest and the Manx Dancing by Arbory School, the band retreated to the Tea Tent to setup and provide some entertainment whilst the crowds enjoyed their tea. The music included Blaze Away, Something Stupid, Cry Me A River and Amarillo, and finished with One Moment In Time.

Yet again, the ladies of the tea tent provided a wonderful tea for everyone - the highlight of the day.

Next is Armed Forces Day on Sunday 29th July in Douglas.
