Amongst all the rain this summer, everyone was hoping that we might get one good weekend of weather for the Southern Agricultural Show which was held on 28th and 29th July at Great Meadow, just outside Castletown. And the prayers weren’t mis-placed. A lovely sunny day ensured that the event was a success.

As in previous years, the band performed on the Saturday afternoon which saw large crowds entering the show field to watch the judging of the animals, and going round the different tents, marquees and stalls.

Rodney had chosen an entertaining programme which included pieces ranging from Vaughan Williams’s English Folk Songs to the Schneewaltzer (I think Rodney was hedging his bets for the weather!).

Although there were a couple of spots of rain, it didn’t spoil the afternoon.
