Remembrance Weekend

The weekend of 12th, 13th and 14th November brought the usual busy Remembrance period for the band, with a Poppy Concert on the Friday evening, and parades in Castletown and Peel on the Sunday.

Manx Music Night

The band were delighted to be taking part in a charity concert on behalf of the Hyperbaric Chamber on Tuesday 19th October at the Abbey Church in Ballasalla. We were also delighted to be joined by local choir Caarjyn Cooidjagh.

Tynwald Day

July 5th is Tynwald Day in the Isle of Man, the Island’s national day, and was celebrated in usual fashion with a day full of events at Tynwald Hill, St Johns, in the centre of the island.

Port Erin Lifeboat Day

Port Erin was buzzing on Sunday 15th August as the crew from the local lifeboat station held it’s annual Lifeboat Day. Large crowds enjoyed the glorious sunshine and all the activities that had been laid on, including raft races, Manx dancing, Waterzorbs, go karts, bouncy castles, model boats, planes, and classic cars.

Laa Columb Killey

Wonderful weather greeted the band as they formed up outside Ballabeg Hall for the parade to the field. Although not all were able to take part in the parade, 26 band members turned out to celebrate Laa Columb Killey

HMS Ramsey

Freedom of Entry Ceremony - Ramsey

A large crowd gathered in Ramsey for the ceremony to confer the Freedom of Entry to the crew of the Royal Navy ship bearing the name of the town, HMS RAMSEY. The band were delighted to have been invited to join the celebration by leading the parade through the town.

Wire Brass Concert

An audience of over 150 were given a treat on Saturday 10th April at Castle Rushen High School when Bactiguard Wire Brass and guest soloist Glyn Williams performed a gala concert. The band had been invited to the island by Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band who joined Wire Brass on stage for 2 pieces during the concert.

Subscription Concert 2010

Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band’s annual brass band workshop and finale concert was held over the weekend 18th – 21st February. This year the band were fortunate in obtaining the services of David Horsfield, who has a good brass band pedigree, having been principal solo cornet with Black Dyke, a member of the James Shepherd Versatile Brass and also a member of the Kings of Brass.
