At St Catherine's Church on Thursday the band wished Ian Astill well on his next adventure. Sadly for the band it means him leaving the island to continue his educational studies as he does his PGCE at Bangor University.

Over the years, apart from being a great euphonium player for the band and taking over as MD for 12 months at short notice, Ian has also covered for when other players haven't been able to attend, predominantly on bass and bas trombone, and assisted John Collings by taking rehearsals and conducting at a number of concerts. He has also done a lot of work assisting Barbara Glassey with our training band, Balley Cashtal Brass.

The audience joined the band in thanking Ian fro everything he's done and in wishing him well for the future.

However, we're hopefull it's not the last we see of Ian, and hopefully he will be back playing with us during his holidays.
