Congratulations from all at Castletown Band goes to Jim Crebbin who was awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen's Birthday Honours recently.

Jim, a former Musical Director of Rushen Silver Band for almost 50 years, and band member since it's creation, was awarded the BEM for services to music and his local community.  As well as the work he's done, and still does for Rushen Band, he has also been on the committee for the Manx Music Festival for more than 20 years.

With both bands coming from the south of the island, over the years we have worked closely, with Jim playing a big role in this. Commenting on the award, our Secretary Simon Court said, "We are extremely pleased to see Jim being awarded the BEM. The work he has done, not just for Rushen Band, but for all brass bands on the island, is greatly appreciated."
