On Sunday 7th September at 12:30pm the band will be taking part in Castletown Commissioners Bridge Naming Ceremony.

The Commissioners have decided to name the swing bridge over Castletown Harbour (by the Police Station) in memory of Major Robert Cain VC who was awarded his VC for actions at Arnhem during Operation Market Garden. His citation said of him 'His coolness and courage under incessant fire could not be surpassed'.

Major Cain was born in Shanghai to Manx parents and returned to the island for his education. After the war he continued with his career with Royal Dutch Shell before retiring to the island in 1965.

The naming ceremony will be carried out by his daughter Francis Clarkson followed by refreshments in the Civic Centre.

The band will be playing before and following the ceremony.
