Band AGM

The band held its' AGM last night, Tuesday 1st October, in the band room in Queen Street, Castletown in the presence of the band's President Mr Edwin Cubbon. The meeting was chaired by Mr Tony Brown, former MHK for Castletown and former island Chief Minister.

It opened with a brief report from our Musical Director on the last 9 months since Ian took over from Rodney Evans. Ian thanked the band for their ‘renewed enthusiasm’ and said that it had been a 'productive yet challenging year for the band'. He also thanked all the officials for their hard work and assistance they have given him. This was followed by a financial report given by Simon Court which showed that at the end of December 2012 (the band's financial year) the finances were in a healthy state.

Youth Welfare Officer          - Rhiannon Charnley
Band Sergeants                  - Margaret Collins and Lois Watterson
Official Compere                - Willie Kneale

A vote of thanks was then given to Helen Kinvig who has stepped down as Treasurer after over 30 years of service to the band, and to Rodney Evans our previous MD for the work he had done, especially the refurbishment of the bandroom.

Mr Brown then closed the meeting, commenting that over the last summer people he had talked to had commented that they believed the band 'was improving, playing a good range of music and should be proud of the work you do for the community'.
