The Band held their annual dinner and award presentation at the Palace Hotel on Saturday 22 October 2016, when players, friends and family gathered to join the band for an evening of good food, company and award ceremony.

Present at the gathering was our Band President Edwin Cubbon, Chairman Tony Brown and Band Patron Noel Cringle. During his speech of welcome, Band Secretary, Simon Court reported that the Band had undertaken in excess of 50 engagements this year so far, with more to come with the lead up to Christmas. The Band members were thanked for their hard work. Simon also led those attending in sending best wishes for a speedy recovery to Lawrence Quirk who was in hospital and unable to attend. Particular mention was also made regarding Balley Cashtal Brass, the CMSB Training Band, led by Barbara Cole. Formed in 2013, the results have seen at least 11 players progress to the main band so far, with more players expected to make the transition to CMSB soon. Barbara was congratulated on such fine results, including a number of younger members receiving music grades.

The band was also pleased to announce the appointment of Ken Mitchell as its new Musical Director, replacing John Collings who  tendered his resignation in the Autumn. John was thanked for his sterling efforts and Ken was welcomed to the band.
