Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band are pleased to announce the appointment of its new Musical Director, Ken Mitchell, proprietor of Peter Norris Music, who has taken over from John Collings. Ken took over on Sunday 11th October 2016.

Band Secretary, Simon Court said that "Ken comes from a very musical family and is very well known in Island musical circles, particularly through his business and association with Douglas Town Band. Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band look forward to a long and fruitful  association with Ken, who will build on the good stewardship commenced by Ian Astill and  John Collings".

Over the coming months we will be working on music for 2017, which will be a mix of traditional, contemporary and modern as we wish to provide interest for all members of the community. Some of these works will be a challenge, but Ken is "certain that the band members will succeed in playing them to a high standard. Music tastes are changing and Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band must continue moving forward to meet changing trends, both from its audiences, the community and its players".  The band members are pleased to welcome Ken as their Musical Director.

The band will retain its core value of being a community band, a duty which it undertakes actively in the south of the Island.

Whilst the above changes have been taking place, Balley Cashtal Brass, our Training Band, have been progressing under the dynamic stewardship of Barbara Cole, its intention to provide a stream of new players to ensure the future of Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band. Ken will also be working with Barbara to provide backup and support and to assist with the introduction of BCB into Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band.  Potential new members for both BCB and CMSB should contact Hon Secretary Simon Court on 204137, or by email to This email address is being protected from spambots.
