In 2011 the band took the decision to look at extending and renovating the current bandroom in Queens Street, Castletown which they have occupied for well over 60 years. The plan is to build a single storey extension on the side of the building, the old Temperance Hall, and then to renovate the inside, repairing and damp-proofing the walls, installing a false ceiling and central heating.
To help raise funds to pay for this work the band have launched a Buy a Brick Campaign. Click on the link for more details.
The pictures below show the progress that has been made so far.

As promised we've managed to get some photographs taken at the opening of the band room extension.
Sunday 12th May saw 18 months of effort culminate in the official opening of the extension to the bandroom. A large crowd, as well as the band, squeezed into the building for the ceremonial part of the afternoon followed by an open rehearsal, then tea and cake.
Now that the band have been back in the band room for a few weeks, we felt the time was right for us to officially declare the refurbishment complete. To celebrate this we would like to announce a date for the official opening of the refurbished bandroom, Sunday 12th May at 3pm.
After leading a nomadic life for the last couple of months with the band rehearsing in Morton Hall and Castletown Methodist Church Hall (thanks to both the Castletown Over 60's Club and the Methodist Church), and although not officially opened yet, the band re-occupied the bandroom after work was completed just after Christmas.

Richard has been down to the bandroom and taken some more pictures of the progress. The work is going well with the outside now being completed. The builders have now moved inside and are currently lining the walls of the original bandroom before that is re-plastered and decorated.
